One château, one history, one family!

The history of Le Grand Verdus wine is also that of the Château, which dates from the Renaissance, and of the Le Grix de la Salle family, who decided after World War II to grow their little vineyard into a renowned winemaking enterprise.

Here is a brief history of Château Le Grand Verdus, which has witnessed the birth of many great wines that are now recognised and exported to over twenty countries worldwide.

Key dates of Château Le Grand Verdus

Many years later, in 1810, architect Claude DESCHAMPS, who was responsible for the stone bridges of Bordeaux and Libourne under Napoleon, purchased the château. His son married Clothilde Le Grix de la Salle, who left the estate to her brother Charles. In the early 19th century, about 1810, the dynasty was born and Le Grand Verdus became more than a simple holiday residence.
