Un lieu empreint de magie, où se transmet de père en fils le secret des vrais Bordeaux

A place tinged with magic, where the secret of true Bordeaux winemaking is handed down from father to son

The vineyard of Château Le Grand Verdus is located in the heart of a preserved hilly landscape, in the AOC Bordeaux Supérieur area, between the areas of Médoc, Graves and Saint-Emilion, at the gateway to the Entre-Deux-Mers region (between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers), 20 km east of Bordeaux city.

The superb country 16th-century Renaissance residence has been in the hands of the same family since 1810 – four generations of the LE GRIX DE LA SALLE family, all fired by the same passion for wine.

This is totally fruit-driven wine. With very fresh citrus acidity, it is as crisp as possible while not losing sight of the potential of its white fruits. There is a delicious steely edge as well as great acidity at the end. The wine is a blend from vineyards planted with 60% Sauvignon blanc, 30% Sémillon and 10% Muscadelle. The estate has been in the Le Grix de la Salle family for 100 years.

This wine is ripe with attractive blackberry fruits and jammy acidity. The tannins play a fine supporting role, allowing the fruits to develop a warm, rich character. The wine could age, so drink from 2016. The Le Grix de la Salle family’s sons have worked in Napa Valley, New Zealand and Spain before making wine at home. The château is a historical monument .

Château Le Grand Verdus Bordeaux Blanc - 16.75 (89)

Attractive estate that lies 20 kilometres east of Bordeaux, owned of the Grix de la Salle family. Precise, clean citrus flavours on the nose and palate, lovely lift on the finish, delicate minerality with floral edge.

Château Le Grand Verdus - Grande Réserve - Bordeaux Supérieur 2013 - 16 (86) Recommended

Clean fruit, pureed not pressed, redcurrant and dark spice, dip mid palate but some ambition
